Welcome to BCI Cra-Wal Division
A reputation for great service while specializing in short runs at a competitive cost, has made BCI’s Cra-Wal Division a leading supplier of outstanding corrugated packaging in the Midwest. Delivering as many as four times per day, they are committed to getting your packaging to you how you want it and when want it.
In 1971, Howard Ringer and Jim Deloughery saw a need for better service in the corrugated industry of Indianapolis, Indiana. They recognized the need for a commitment to fulfill all of a customer’s requirements, no matter how large or small. Howard and Jim envisioned a company that could provide short runs, next day deliveries, and total customer satisfaction at an affordable cost.
With the inclusion of Robert France and Robert Marley and with the financial backing of Trev Cramer and Vern Waldon of Ingress Plastine, Cra-Wal was formed as a division thereof. Hence, the company name was derived from these two gentlemen. Cra-Wal began its start at 4101 S. High School Road Indianapolis, Indiana in a 40,000 square foot building. An addition of 20,000 square feet was added to the original building in 1981.
In 1976, Ingress Plastene was purchased by Sears & Roebuck and Cra-Wal became a Division of Universal Rundle, a company purchased earlier by Sears & Roebuck. In 1984 Nortek, Inc., a fortune 500 manufacturer of building products purchased Universal Rundle.
In 1992, Russell Stooks purchased Cra-Wal from Nortek, Inc.
Cra-Wal moved to its current 96,000 square foot location (4001 S. High School Road Indianapolis, Indiana) in the spring of 1992.
Cra-Wal installed its first flexo folder gluer, a Langston Saturn II in 1986. In 1989, Cra-Wal established an assembly department to compliment its manufacturing capabilities with hand assembly providing its customers with greater value. Cra-Wal has continued to reinvest in its business over the years by adding key converting equipment including a second flexo folder gluer, two rotary diecutters, a flatbed diecutter, and a specially folder gluer.
Buckeye Corrugated, Inc. acquired Cra-Wal in May of 1997. This was the first time that Cra-Wal was owned by a company in the corrugated industry. Today, the BCI Cra-Wal Division is a thriving part of the employee-owned Buckeye Corrugated family.
